Goodies for the Paris-Roubaix

The Parisian agency Spoutnik, specialised in event marketing, contacted us to work on a project around the Paris-Roubaix. The Paris-Roubaix race Paris-Roubaix is an important national and historical event, a mythical cycling race created in 1896. Thousands of viewers follow this prestigious event, nicknamed "The Hell of the North", every year .

The Evening of Legends

For the occasion, the Stab Vélodrome Roubaix Hauts-de-France, in partnership with the City of Roubaix, the Département du Nord and the Communauté d'Agglomération Porte du Hainaut, organised the second edition of the Soirée des Légendes.

The Sputnik agency supports the organiser. They want to offer a gift to the guests and are thinking of turning to 3D printing. We gladly accept the project and are delighted to participate in the life of the city by being present for a local production.

They have the idea of a small goodie and propose 3 tracks:

  • A cobbled section (the race is famous for its cobbled sections, which greatly increase the risk of crashes and punctures)
  • A bicycle
  • A bust of the winners honoured with a "Legends Evening 2022" base

Several proposals were made, and the fluidity of our exchanges with the agency allowed us to validate the prototype and launch production. The goodies were printed in two colours on single colour printers. The printing is first launched in black, with a programmed pause to change the filament spool. The printing then starts again in red. In total, we produce 220 parts in 3 days in our 3D printer farm.

The guests of the evening then received these little cyclists in 3D. They included Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle (winner in 1992 and 1993) and Johan Museeuw (winner in 1996, 2000 and 2002).
